PostSubject: Character backgrounds and stats   Sun Jan 18, 2009 1:07 am

Okay this thread is for people to post their characters background and stats if they want.

Without further ado I present Bellamin Burnaby

Appearance, Traits + Disadvantages

Doodles constantly, carrying a scratchpad and quill everywhere he goes. He takes great care to fold and put away any drawing he is working on before engaging in such distractions as combat or rescuing a fellow party member.

History

The son of a pig keeper, Bellamin used to find strange things ground into the feed. Unbeknownst to him, his father was paid by a local crime lord to dispose of victims' bodies by mixing them with the slop. Later he would come to learn that it was this same grisly practice that put him through an expensive and prestigous academy. ArcanE magic is his god, his salvation, and his creed. With it, you can overcome almost anything the world can throw against you. Even death is no obstacle when one holds the power of magic in hand. Bellamin respects the gods for the power they hold, but do not bow down to them. They are simply beings that have masterd arcane magic in ways that ordinary mortals have not. Clerics recieve adoration for their dedication and devotion, but reliance on divine entities for power holds them back. Bellamin has no such restrictions.

Goals

To fathom the true secrets of magic and the material plane.

Arthur Pelion comes from one of the oldest and wealthiest families in the region. The Pelions are the founders of the first official church of Pelor, and their ancestry consists of several notable clerics; some of the most boastful of the family make the claim that it was the Pelions who first established contact with the sun god Pelor. As the firstborn of many sons, Arthur grew up as a very privileged child, but he always felt a persistent guilt when he realized the prevalence of poverty in the world. He found guidance in the church, the donations of which often go towards his family’s wealth, to his dismay. He studied the teachings of the priests, and began to live in his own quarters in the church once he was old enough and devoted his time to becoming a worthy cleric of Pelor. He enjoys religious debate and tries his best to influence the church to do the most charitable work it can, but feels that the church’s politics are sometimes a distraction from the path of righteousness.
He is very sensitive to distribution of wealth; he becomes visibly frustrated when the church uses money for opulence, he donates as much money as he can to the poor unless he thinks he can find a way to put the money to better use towards the common good, and tries his best to live modestly and encourage others to do the same. He does not shirk from receiving his share of the gold from a job well done, but hesitates from spending it on himself unless it is necessary. If a job pays very well, he may sometimes think that the good his pay will do might outweigh a few moral scruples. He is not ashamed of his family, but wants to have people judge him as his own person. When appropriate, he asks people to refer to him by his first name.
As a hobby, the study of alchemy and potions interest him. When he is not giving medical care or performing other functions of a cleric, he likes to use his alchemical skills for philanthropic work as well as for the purely intellectual challenge.

BTW 19, tell me if the backstory is overstepping your authority as DM or the boundaries of the game world. I'll make changes if needed.

Arthur Pelion
Human Cleric level 5
Neutral Good, Diety: Pelor (Healing and Sun domains)

HP 34

Str 10
Dex 10
Con 14
Int 12
Wis 17
Cha 14

Weapons I want: Heavy mace, sling + bullets, either heavy or light crossbow.
Armor I want: I guess as much as I can afford, clerics have proficiency with all armor and with all shields except tower. It isn't like the penalties are going to hurt me too much.
Mics: I need a Pelor holy symbol, and it wouldn't hurt to have an alchemist lab, certain materials for my spells and potions, and i think I would probably have cleric vestments back at the church.

Feats:
Brew Potion, Extra Turning, and Heighten Spell

Languages:
Common, Dwarf

Domains:
Sun and Healing. One greater turning per day and I cast heal spells at +1 caster level.

Skills:
Concentration 8
Craft Alchemy 8 (+2 synergy to appraise alchemy checks)
Diplomacy 2
Heal 8
Knowledge (religion) 5 (this gives a +2 synergy bonus to check for turning undead)
Spellcraft 1

Spells prepared:
0 level
Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Light, Read Magic, Guidance

1 level
Domain Spell: Endure Elements
Summon Monster I, Detect Evil, Hide from Undead, Magic Stone

2 level

Name: Hinjo (no last name lolol)

Appearance: A man who covered a lot of his body, you cant see any of his arms or legs, which are covered by robes and gloves.
Even his face is covered with a mask that he never seems to remove, which only has a small hole at the mouth, and ofcourse at the eyes. xD
He walks very silently, and his left arm seems to be very stiff, maybe broken, seeing as he almost only uses his right arm for things.

Personality and character: A first class asshole, always avoiding any kind of contact with people, and being very self-orientated.
He always seems to be looking for new things to learn about, things as types of plants, diseases, and will be found a lot taking notes,
and experimentating with these.

Background/history: He was both a stealthy rogue, as a curious scientist, always learning about things he ran into.
He was found doing a lot of research about kinds of both diseases and cures, poisen and antidotes and potions.

Back Story:

Born to a Farming family, the baby of 2 other children one who was his teenage years and a sister just entering adulthood. barbarians raided the small farming community where they lived when Wrynn was just 2. Right after they killed his family they took the young Wrynn to be raised as a slave. At least that's what his uncle told him, they almost got away with him, but his uncle killed the one barbarian carrying him and fled into the fields. He spent most of his life trying to rebuild what was lost in the raid. One day though, he witnessed his uncle talking to three black robed individuals. After sneaking within earshot of them, he overheard them talking about how it was almost time for the "harvest". Seeing as how the crop harvest was only 2 weeks prior to this, Wrynn found it very odd. He later confronted his uncle about it, he learned the terrible secret that has been in his family for generations. Every 2 years, his family and their friends would pay tribute to these "creatures" that fed on human flesh, in order for their dark blessing they had to supply these fiends with fresh corpses to be devoured in a sick ritual. He learned that the raid on his family was by a group of "barbarians" that refused to sacrifice to the creatures and would kill all who would sustain them. So that night he killed his uncle by slicing his throat open with a shortsword, which he still carries to this day. He escaped that night and began to search for the group of "barbarians" that tried to save him as a baby.
After about a week of looking, he comes across an encampment of just hte people he was looking for. After explaining who he was and why he was there, he was accused of being a spy/assassin for the "creatures". After a few raids with the barbarians, he began to gain their trust. He spends his next few years living with them, until 1 night when scouts report a new "harvest" is almost ready to begin and that this is the perfect time to strike and kill the creatures that have murdered and corrupted the countryside for decades.

TO BE CONTINUED....!!!!....!!!! (I don't feel like finishing right now)

Your ability scores seem a bit low. Have you talked with 19 about them?

Yes, I think it was. But I think that we were supposed to start at the average stats for our race, which for us would be 10 all around since we're humans.
For a score of 10, it costs 0 pts
11, 1
12, 2
13, 3
14, 4
15, 6
16, 8
17, 11
18, 14
19, 18

...and so on. Dunno how much points you get by going under ten. BTW we each get to add one point to one of our stats at level 4. I put it in my highest stat to save points.

Of course you have so many skill points, you're a rogue. they have the most skills in game (other than bard) cause it's the only thing you can do, have fun doing minimum damage to all the undead we're fighting

We're going to be fighting a lot of undead? Well, the cleric with 17 wisdom, extra turning feat, and greater turning ability thinks that is FUCKING WIN.

Or maybe the Barbarian with a 17 str and the ability to cleave enemies with a tree might do some damage as well.
